My First Woven Foray

I've noticed of late while perusing Pinterest that I've been drawn to images of woven textiles, blankets and patches on clothes, and some more decorative woven objects too. 

I keep going back to this:

How beautiful are they! Sort of reminds me of guerrilla knitting or yarn bombing, and I really like how something natural has been added to to make it even prettier. 

Having never woven anything before I decided to have a little go, not on a twig but on a make-it-up-as-you-go-along type job and spent a happy couple of hours with my little cereal box loom, needle and thread, watching The Hunger Games. It has a way to go, but here is a progress report… 

I don't know what I'm going to do with it when it's done, but it's a wonderful form of procrastination at the very least and I'm pretty cuffed with it so far. Easily pleased me!
